Our Signature Project

The Lochiel Kiwanis Community Centre

In 1985, the City of Sarnia approached the Sarnia Kiwanis Club, Inc. to see if the membership would be interested in a partnership to become the caretakers of the newly acquired George St. Public School and run it as a community centre.  Enthusiastically the club membership said "YES".  The Sarnia Kiwanis Foundation, Inc. was created to help generate revenue to support the continuing operations of the building.  Over the years it has been home to many not-for-profit youth focused community groups, including Rebound, who called it home when they first began.
Since that time, the Sarnia Kiwanis, Inc. club amalgamated with the Sarnia-Lambton Golden K Kiwanis Club and together, they continue to operate the centre as their "Kiwanis Signature Project".
